Amy 20th May 2019

John was a very caring uncle who I will miss dearly. Amy desiccated Beetroot was his special nickname for me and he always greeted me with a lovely warm hug whenever we met. I have so many happy memories of family moments with him-probably far too many to share! One would be sitting in the kitchen at Cornfield Road around the table-conversation was always full of laughter and fun and usually outrageous....John had the most wonderful, infectious and booming laugh! On holiday in Majorca I was absolutely devastated to find I had lost my tooth whilst swimming in the pool. The tooth fairy would never forgive me! John swam to the bottom and found it for me, without a second thought and it made my day. That was such a typical thing for him to do and just one example of his subtle kindness. Both John and Ollie were incredibly supportive when I moved to Sussex university and were surrogate parents when I was particularly home sick. I’ll never forget their kindness and generosity in my first year. I am so sad to not be there to pay my respects to my lovely uncle, but he is very much in my thoughts and prayers, always. Xx
